About Opal

Opal is a gorgeous 6-year-old Appaloosa mare standing 14.2 hands and built stout with a broad chest, wide hindquarters, clean legs, and a cute head. She has a smooth walk, trot, and canter, consistently picks up the correct leads, has an easy slide stop and good reverse, and neck reins one-handed. She is an outstanding trail mount who will walk all day on a loose rein and confidently navigate almost anything. She crosses water, goes through thick brush, crosses downed logs, and handles steep terrain. She is comfortable riding alone or with a group and can lead or follow. Opal is traffic safe and remains unbothered around dogs, farm machinery, and ATVs. She has also been extensively desensitized and can be ridden bareback or bridleless, carry a flag, tolerate a tarp, and handle unusual movements from the rider. On the ground, Opal is friendly and easy to catch in the pasture. She gets along well in a mixed herd, behaves nicely in the stall, and stands quietly for grooming, tacking, mounting, clipping, bathing, and the farrier. She also loads and hauls great. Opal is a beautiful, versatile and well-rounded mare with a willing attitude and excellent trail experience.
